If you’ve been on some of the fashion photo blogs the last few months it’s almost certain you’ve seen these fluorescent satchel bags. Cambridge Satchel Company is a UK based company with a great story behind it. Julie Deane started the company a few years ago with the simple goal of earning extra money to send her children to a great school. I’m sure she’s accomplished her goal as Cambridge Satchel Company has really taken off. All of the bags are hand-made out of genuine leather and retail for around $200 with special editions also available at ASOS.

Deviant Design Group kicked off the grand opening of their first flagship store this past weekend and I had the pleasure of being able to attend the event.  Co-Owners Mark Barata (DDG President) and Dave Mancia had a blast getting to finally open the doors to their store in Long Beach, California.

You may recall Deviant Design Group (DDG) from my previous blogs about their infamous domino ring and DDG x Nooka collaboration.  DDG is definitely known for stepping out of the box and creating impeccable jewelry pieces.  I am definitely looking forward to seeing what they pump out in 2012!

Be Inthavong (formerly of Be & D) recently launched his new collection, “The Heritage Weave Collection”, which consists of a series of sophisticated styles constructed from fabric that was handmade in Be’s home land, Laos. The fabric is nothing I’ve ever seen before and is created using custom built looms with a technique that is centuries old. It’s a weave made of leather and silk, intricately hand woven to create contrasting shades and unique textures. It’s fabulous and screams luxury.

This past year, I’ve had the pleasure of helping Be design several different types of media as well as the leather pattern you see on his bags. I cannot express enough gratitude for him to take the chance to let me assist with something that would be so visible on his bags. Not only are some constructed with this “BE” pattern, but most of the bags are lined with a soft patterned leather as well.

I’ve never designed anything that I could physically touch before, so imagine my reaction when I saw these bags for the first time.

They have been picked up by luxury stores and boutiques across the world, from Dubai to Las Vegas. Every time I walk by one of Be’s handbags encased in a bright plexiglass display case, I know my heart will drop because I know that I had the pleasure of helping him create something so beautiful.

I just stumbled upon these cases and fell in love, especially the hot pink studded one (not pictured here).

This season is all about rawking fierce clothing.  Whether it be leopard print, snakeskin, or animal styles jewelry, you will for sure get noticed.  I am one that needs some personal help on this.  I am stuck in my ways and am a stickler for solid colors, however I am forcing myself to break this nasty little habit.  I have recently forced myself by purchasing a pair of leopard heels and am super stoked about wearing them.  So this season I challenge you to step out of your comfort zone a bit and wear something that does NOT scream you and see if you are successful at rawking it.

We all know that Kim Kardashian isn’t very talented in the music department (proven with her song that dropped this past week), but she might actually be a bit talented when it comes to jewelry.  Belle Noel came about when Kim Kardashian decided to collaborate with well known jewelry designer Pascal Mouawad.  This line is not made for everyone, it’s a bit futuristic, rock n roll, and edgy all rolled in one.  I am a huge fan of it, since we all know how much I love spikes and daggers.  The greatest thing about it, is their jewelry is quite affordable and very competitive with other lines like Noir Jewelry.  I got a chance to see Belle Noel up close while in LA this past weekend and it was quite impressive.

Ok, so it’s not cross colours, but I bet that brought you way back.  Bright bold colors are back with a vengeance and you will be seeing huge bursts of color popping up everywhere.  Just remember though, although bright colors are in, do not make the same mistakes as the 80′s did.  Keep it minimal, use bright colors to make an outfit pop.  Be careful not to make yourself look like rainbow brite.  Bold colors are best used as an accessory.  Try a bright colored dress with nude pumps.  Or a black outfit with a bright scarf or perhaps a neutral outfit with a coral bag.  If you keep it minimal, I guarantee you it will look amazing!

I’ve recently noticed a rising popularity in envelope clutches, spanning between fashion blogs I frequent to lookbook.nu and beyond. I think it’s a nice departure from the smaller clutches, but I’ll have to do a test run. I can’t imagine a flat clutch holding anything more than a few things (unless it was paper) before it starts bulking up at the bottom which would make it cumbersome to keep a grip on.
