In the last month, I’ve noticed a rise in the popularity of overalls and suspenders. I’ve caught a coworker rawking shorts overalls with a cute pair of heels, as well as people on the streets. I’ve also noticed them at online boutiques randomly. I’m rather ambivalent about it. Afterall, I wore denim, corduroys or linen overalls almost everyday in elementary school and I’m not sure if I want to relive the years when I was mistaken for a boy. I’ll tell you one thing though, my mom definitely didn’t pay any more than $20 for a pair of overalls. I can’t imagine her spending $158.

Today, I received the shopbop newsletter marketing “5 inspired looks for weekends in the city”, and one of them was a cute overalls outfit styled with clogs, the trend Mary called a few weeks ago. That pretty much hit my speculations right on the head.

Is this on it’s way to trend-om? Either way, I don’t think I’ll be hopping on the wagon. What do you think?

I walked by a line this morning that was about 100-120 women deep. They were letting people in 2 at a time at the rate of a tortoise. A man stopped in front of me and asked one of the women patiently waiting what they were actually waiting for. “A sample sale.. Tory Burch”, she said.

The rest of the way, I was trying to figure out what the craze is about and started noticing how many people in this city actually wear Tory Burch. It definitely isn’t my style. What do you guys think? RAWK or Not?

For the past month Lauren Conrad has been trying to make multi-colored nails a trend.  It hasn’t quite caught on yet and she seems to be the only celeb as of right now sporting it.  So my question is do you think painting your nails multiple colors is a trend you would rawk or is it just tackky?

Forehead headbands.. where do I start? I have never been a fan and quite frankly, I’m counting down the days until they go away. It’s been more than a year already and I still see girls walking around with this over their forehead.

Personally, I think they’re pretty goofy and it’s one of those things I wouldn’t be caught dead wearing on my head.

What’s the verdict?

I admit, her songs are catchy but they get old pretty fast. As for her avant-garde style, it’s pretty outrageous. I don’t even know WHAT to label some of the monstrosities that she calls an outfit or better yet, lack thereof. Most of the time, I see pictures of her sans pants.

It’s hard not to think that she’s maintaining this image for exactly that, an image. Don’t get me wrong. I’m all for personal expression and I envy her for having the guts to wear what she wears and openly express herself, but at what point do you draw the line? It makes me question the authenticity of her style and how much of it is actually just for attention.

I’m not even sure where to begin with this. Let’s start out by saying that I am definitely not a fan of this look on a male, or anyone for that matter.

First, the “windswept” hair that probably took 5 hours to style. The pants that cut off circulation to your brains and your you-know-whatty. The shoes that are so fitted and narrow that it probably cuts off any blood circulation to your toes. And then, to top if all off, that added touch whether it be a bow-tie, a vintage hat carefully placed on the hair you just styled for 5 hours, a scarf, a skinny tie, or God knows what you found from that vintage store around the corner from your hipster neighborhood.

I mean, seriously…

I don’t know where this came from, but just like the previous tie dye trend that emerged from the 80′s, acid wash has followed right behind it. It’s everywhere! Shirts, handbags, jeans, you name it. Forever 21 has already jumped on the wagon, and let’s be frank, that’s how we all know it’s a trend. Forever 21 never misses a beat when it comes to trends. American Apparel and Topshop follow suit. My thought? Celebrities sure do have an impact on fashion.

Hot pink is squeezing it’s way back into our hearts in the form of dresses, shirts, shorts, shoes and now… lipstick! I wouldn’t dare to try this shade on with my dark olive complexion, but chicks like Camilla Belle, Rihanna, Alexis Bledel and Taylor Monsen (especially her!) pull it off pretty damn well if you ask me.

So you might have read a couple of blogs ago, that I have slowly fallen in love with some of the pieces from elizabeth & james.  Well, this week they introduced their new shoe line and well all I can say is in my opinion it definitely does NOT rawk.  The heels arent tall enough, the colors and designs dont attract me, the pointy toes remind me of the early 2000′s and their prices are a bit too high given the styles.  So needless to say I think Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen should stick to just making clothes.
